If you have ever spent an entire evening playing World of Warcraft only to find that you managed to gain 1 level and about 12 gold in the process and didn't gain much in the way of profession skills, you know the pain of having wasted a great deal of time with little or nothing to show for it. Luckily, there are ways to save yourself some time. Here are five of the best ways to knock off as much as 1 day of play time on your way to Level 70.
1. Stop Grinding - Grinding for XP is pointless and with the advent of Patch 2.3, it is completely unnecessary. Level up the right way with questing. If you focus all of your gameplay attention on questing, you will get a bonus for every task you complete and run a lower risk of getting bored in the process.
2. Less Wandering - Don't wander around looking for better quests. You can almost always find what you are looking for within a few minutes of your current position and more quests are always in reach. If you can't find something, look it up in a guide or on a WoW database to save more time.
3. Questing in Chunks - When you complete quests, do as many at a time as possible. If one quest calls for you to kill 20 murlocs and another calls for you to loot 10 items from those goblins, make sure to have both quests at the same time to cut back on how long it takes to complete either quest. Sometimes you can get as many as 5 or 6 quests that can all be completed in one fell swoop.
4. Forget the Upgrades - Don't waste time and gold constantly stopping to upgrade your gear and your weapons when you don't really need to. Until you reach Level 50 or so, you should have everything you need for your gear and weapons from quest rewards and loot drops, negating a good chunk of time in running back and forth to major towns.
5. The Right Zone - Make sure you are in the right level zone for your level. If you are Level 45 and are already venturing out into the Plaguelands, you are only going to kill yourself much faster and waste a good deal of time getting there and back. Look up the best level zones for your level and faction and don't forget to take your class and your solo status into account.
When you know where to be, when to be there, and how long to stay there, your leveling experience will improve dramatically. You will get higher faster and you won't waste potential days wandering the continents looking for quests you'll enjoy. A power leveling guide can even further boost your experience as well, making it possible to focus even more attention on the subtler, more fun aspects of the game.
